"  This seminar satisfies the contractor component of the California Advanced Lighting Controls Training Program (CALCTP).  CALCTP has been developed in coordination with the IBEW-NECA California Statewide LMCC and the state’s major utility companies.  The program’s goal is to promote effective, energy efficient lighting for commercial applications.  Only customers who hire CALCTP certified contractors for their lighting retrofits will be eligible to receive the incentives and rebates that their utilities are expected to roll out soon.
 In order for contractors to become CALCTP certified, they must complete the 1-day business development seminar and employ JWs who have completed the 50-hour technical training course currently being offered through the JATCs.
 NECA members are eligible to receive significant rebates on attendance costs for their successful completion of the seminar. 
 Some figures from the statewide LMCC regarding the potential market for advanced lighting controls:
     -          The PUC estimates that lighting represents 42.7% of the California’s electrical load – more than ¾’s of the lighting load is non-residential
     -          There is 8 billion sq. ft. of non-residential space in California alone and the vast majority of buildings do not have advanced lighting controls
     -          A reduction of 3 kw’s for lighting corresponds to 1 less kw used by HVAC
