Benchmarking is more important than ever with State and Federal regulations requiring this important view into a building 's energy performance. The basics of benchmarking from why, how and what to benchmark were reviewed. Daryl DeJean and Lee Stevens reviewed in this three hour presentation the compelling reasons for adopting the five-step energy management and strategic plan recommended by ENERGY STAR®, the web-based resources. The seminar also covered the carbon footprint that can be generated from the free Portfolio Manager tool and ways to easily track energy efficiency projects. Finally, Daryl and Lee shared the "staged approach" to energy management examples featuring Mark Twain House & Museum, Hartford, CT. David McGrew, Director of Facilities, Reuben Fleet Science Center, a guest speaker on a 2009 natioanl webinar hosted by ENERGY STAR, shared his experience benchmarking in Portfolio Manager.
