Benchmarking 101 Seminar

Fifteen to twenty five attendees benchmarked  over 60 building during four hands on seminars given by Daryl DeJean and Lee Stevens on July 27 and August 31. The attendees were introduced to the basic steps in benchmarking a building, the use of San Diego Gas & Electric's  Automated Benchmarking Services and the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager tool..

Courtesy of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), the attendees were able to upload their data into the ENERGY STAR's Portfolio Manager tool immediately and see their energy performance during the seminar. On August 31, attendees benchmarked over 2 million sqft of buildings including university, laboratory, school, museum, retail and hotel space types. All seminars on Benchmarking 101 were taught by Lee Stevens with Daryl DeJean assisting with attendees to immediate achive benchmarking project completions during the seminars.

The seminars are taught within a computer lab at the National University Spectrum Center campus. Come and join us to learn easy steps to quickly benchmark your facility!

On September 28, 2010, we taught two Benchmarking 101 seminars to apporximately 20 attendees. All attendees learned to use Portfolio Manager, how to navigate the ENERGY STAR website and most importantly, 100% of the attendees who brought their meter information were able to set up their Facility in Portfolio Manager and benchmark their buildings with San Diego Gas & Electric/ ENERGY STAR Automated Benchmarking Services successfully. Attendees indicated that they have and planned to benchmark at least 81 buildings accounting for over 3 million square feet .

The  October 7  ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager Energy Performance Tools was huge success as Daryl DeJean took the ENERGY STAR tools once attendees have their baseline in "energy performance".  Thirty attendees immediately benchmarked two buildings totalling 18,000 sqft. In a survey taken at the end of the seminar, the attendees said they plan on benchmarking eighty buildings totalling 2,982,000 sqft within 6 months. Based on the number of e-mails and calls received by ETA to date, all attendees have met or exceeded the stated goals. Robert Guthrie CEM, Plant Manager for Sharp Grossmont did a phenomenal job of sharing his expereince with the ENERGY STAR program and the graphing tools that he has used.

The  October 26 ENERGY STAR Best Practices  Seminar had fourty nine attendees and was taught by Daryl DeJean. Daryl took the attendees through the "staged approach" that starts with internal no cost or low cost measures. Many attendees indicated in a written survey that they plan to benchmark thirty buildings totaling 3,500,000 sqft in the next six months.

These seminars were held at at the Center for Sustainable Energy California in San Diego by ETA on behalf of SDG&E .
