ENERGY STAR Best Practices October 26, 2011

On October 26, 2010,  Daryl DeJean taught another ENERGY STAR seminar under  San Diego Gas & Electric's highly popular ENERGY STAR series seminars.

Armed with his vast experience of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, plug load and control systems as a Director of Facilities for HILTI's two hundred facilites nationwide, Daryl engaged all fourty-nine attendees in not only benchmarking their buildings but adopting a well designed energy management program and strategy that has been time tested  by many Fortune 500 companies and large organizations (cities, non profits, healthcare etc). See HILTI Officer's testimonial about Daryl's work at HILTI on our Testimonial page.

The agenda of the seminar was as follows:

•  How do I turn my facility into a high performing building?
    – What is a High Performance  Building?
    – What rating systems use Energy Performance?
•  ENERGY STAR Label system for High Performing buildings
•  USGBC LEED
•  Green Globes
•  State AB 1103 mandates benchmarking
•  How to meet SDG&E benchmarking requirements for incentives and rebates.
    – Statement of Energy Performance
    – SDG&E Benchmarking Supplement
•  How does energy performance rating relate to mandated CaliforniaTitle 24 Part 6 Energy Efficiency Standards ?
    – Target Finder and e-Quest and Energy Pro simulation tools
•  Now that you have your energy performance, what's next?
•  Which measure will bring me the most energy savings?
•  Which energy efficiency measure will bring my business the best return on investment?
•  How do I prioritize my projects and track the savings?

A survey showed that one building was benchmarked immediately while an additional thirty buildings will be benchmarked within six months with a total square footage of 3.5 million. The course material was entirely created by Lee Stevens, Kingport Corporation.

Thank you San Diego Gas & Electric for your tremendous support of the ENERGY STAR program and for leading the way with many seminars on this topic.

“Their solution was to develop and present course segments that were high level, yet comprehensive, and concise.” Bernie Kotlier, IBEW-NECA LMCC
