DOE-EPA Partnership on ENERGY STAR October 13, 2010
Oct 13, 2010 - Conference Call to Discuss DOE-EPA Partnership on ENERGY STAR (October 2010)
ETA participated on this important conference call where stakeholders from manufacturing companies to end users all participated to find out about:
1. new Partnership between EPA and DOE on energy efficiency in both Buildings and Products Programs.
2. legal enforcement in place to quickly deal with false claims whether through advertising, promotion or sales channels: the speakers from both agencies mentioned that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Justice are working hand in hand with the two agencies to begin enforcement of unjustified product claims. Memoranda of Understanding between the agencies are now in place.
Last fall, EPA and DOE launched a new EPA/DOE Partnership on Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Products. This partnership represents an exciting new era in cooperation between the two Agencies, leveraging the skills and abilities of each for greater success. Strong, well-managed federal energy efficiency programs are critical to achieving the Obama Administration’s objectives around climate and energy independence, and enhanced collaboration between the Agencies will present important new opportunities to drive greater efficiency for American consumers by enhancing the ENERGY STAR program and driving greater efficiency in homes and buildings.
EPA and DOE held a conference call on October 13, with EPA Assistant Administrator Gina McCarthy and DOE Acting Under Secretary of Energy/Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, Cathy Zoi, who provided a progress update and offered stakeholders the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback." according to ENERGY STAR ( ENERGY STAR News October 2010 ).
